Elderly care, or simplyelder care(also known in parts of the English speaking world asaged care), is the fulfillment of the special needs and requirements that are unique to senior citizens. This broad term encompasses such services as assisted living,adult day care,long term care,nursing home andhome care. Elderly care emphasizes the social and personal requirements of senior citizens who need some assistance with daily activities and health care, but who desire to age with dignity.
Traditionally, elderly care has been the responsibility of family members and was provided within theextended familyhome. In Canada elderly Canadians may pay for their care on a sliding scale based on annual income. The scale that they are charged on depends on whether they are considered Long Term Care or Assisted Living
Palliative care is specialized medical care for people with serious illnesses. Itfocuses on providing patients with relief from the symptoms and stress of a serious illness. The goal is to improve quality of life for both the patient and the family.
Caregivers, both family, are crucial to the palliative care system. Caregivers and patients often form lasting friendships over the course of care. As a consequence caregivers may find themselves under severe emotional and physical strain. Caregiver play very important part in Palliative Care.
